The Discus Fish (Symphysodon var.) is one of the most popular fish in the Cichlids species.  They are bred for their spectacular colors and are one of the most well behaved species of freshwater fish.

Have you ever thought of having live fish tank plants in your aquarium? Well, it is a great idea for a number of reasons.

This ancient member of the plant kingdom dates back several million years. Their sizes have been found to range from cellular to very large plants that can cover over 100 feet in length.

I think fish owners enjoy aquarium backgrounds more than the fish do! The backgrounds come in various tropical designs; its purpose is to add beauty to your tank and to also cover up any unseemly extension cords or fish tank supplies that would be seen without having a nice background.

The maroon clownfish (Premnas biaculeatus) has a maroon colored body with either white or gold stripes. These fish were originally from reefs in the Pacific Ocean, between Indonesia, Taiwan and the northern part of the Great Barrier Reef. Some of the gold striped maroon clownfish come from Sumatra.

Aquarium corals are usually the centerpieces of any saltwater fish tank. Coral is a marine invertebrate and is a colony of polyps. Polyps contain algae, which provide food for themselves and the coral.

We went to the Key West Aquarium several months ago and took these pictures of the shark feedings.

The goldfish bowl is no longer the only fish tank you can have on your desk or in your small apartment. The mini aquarium is rapidly becoming the norm with a lot of interesting shapes and sizes.

One of the most fun and exciting tropical popular pet fish is the Oscar fish or Red Oscar (Astronotus ocellatus).

Why purchase feeder fish at the store when you can breed them inexpensively on your own? Although they can be purchased quite cheaply, an every week expense can tend to add up immensely.
