Many times when you think of goldfish and art, what comes to mind is several fish swimming happily in a bowl and the crazy cat has his paw on the top of the fishbowl ready to pounce. You can actually find this type of design at www.art.com.

These beautiful creatures have gotten a bad wrap over time for having the reputation of the following: nasty, filthy, messy, common, “filler fish”, diseased, junk fish, and “feeder fish.”

However, your goldfish art enthusiast doesn’t see it this way. Lets take a look why.

Goldfish have always been available in a multitude of beautiful colors and shapes. You can find goldfish with double tails, bubble eyes, and can range from a gold to a black color. These varieties have shown up over 300 in number.

Goldfish have shown differences from their eyes, scales, body, head growth and colors. These fish have been found to be a solid color and sometime a rainbow of colors, which gives many goldfish art enthusiast pleasure.

Learning more and more about the name “goldfish” can be very odd when they can be very far from the color gold. They have been found to be gold, blue, chocolate, black, yellow, olive green, white, red, wild colors. They are also known to change colors throughout their lifetime. Sounds like goldfish art to me!

Depending on the scales, the colors mentioned above can take on a whole new look. Scales have been known to range from matte, metallic, flat, non-reflective and matte.

The most sturdy of all the flat-bodied goldfish is called the Common goldfish. These fish are very fast swimmers and are extremely competitive. They are bluish gray when young and mature into an orange metallic color.

Another aggressive swimmer that’s known for its sturdiness as well is the Comet goldfish, which was developed in the United States.

Most goldfish enthusiasts love the exotic goldfish that have round bodies with only one dorsal fin. Even though they have one fin, they are not inefficient at swimming.

I’ve only had a chance to name a few goldfish, but there are so many more varieties and breeds available. Goldfish is what captivates the enthusiast and keeps them intrigued for a lifetime.
